Samuelsens Play Book By John Landers

In the upcoming months you are going to see a whole lot of John Samuelsen on 

television and in person talking real tough. He’s going to tell everyone how 

Local 100 will never accept zeroes in our next contract and how he will 

never allow the State of New York to balance their budget off the backs of 

TA workers while millionaires and Wall Street continue to get a free ride. *TALK 

IS CHEAP!* Samuelsen’s game is going to sound great and his goal is to make 

you think he is the greatest speaker since Franklin Delano Roosevelt. *PLEASE 

DON’T BE FOOLED BY HIS BALONEY!* 

1 - The Local 100 Labor Contract ends on January 15, 2012. The MTA will cry 

poverty like never before and will demand we accept a series of zeroes and 

work rule concessions also known as *givebacks*. John Samuelsen will scream 

and holler to any member of the media willing to listen.

2 - The talk will be loud and tough and Samuelsen will make you feel proud 

to be a Local 100 member*. My dear Sisters and Brothers from my heart I 

give you my word - it’s all one big game aimed directly at one thing and one 

thing only:*

*DELAY THE CONTRACT BY ALL MEANS NECESSARY UNTIL AFTER THE TWU ELECTIONS IN 

DECEMBER OF 2012.*

3 – Once the MTA makes their absurd contract offer John Samuelsen will 

publicly declare an impasse and the Local 100 lawyers will begin to file 

dozens of legal objections challenging the MTA’s offer line-by-line in 

various courts tying up contract negotiations for months and months *UNTIL*…before 

you know it, it will be December of 2012 and time for the Local 100 

elections. Samuelsen will then announce…*We are very close to securing a 

decent contract, but it won’t be completed before the election. I need more 

time. Re-elect me and I will get it done**….*Hey you want to buy a bridge?**

*IF WE FALL FOR HIS GAME AGAIN WE ARE ALL DOOMED**.** JOHN SAMUELSEN’S ONLY 

REAL PLAN IS TO GET RE-ELECTED.*

*THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO SECURE A DECENT CONTRACT AND THAT IS NOT WITH 

SAMUELSEN’S CHEAP TALK AND GRANDSTANDING BUT WITH REAL ACTION. MAKE THE 

PUBLIC SCREAM AT THE MTA AND THEY WILL HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO LISTEN. IT 

WON’T BE PRETTY, BUT WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SAW A PRETTY WAR? *
